چکیده

Introduction: Fluorine (F) magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) can monitor the concentration and metabolism of fluorinated cancer drugs like 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and its oral prodrug capecitabine in vivo [1]. Previous F MRS animal studies of capecitabine and 5-FU metabolism used a variety of anesthetic agents including injectable fluorinated compounds like Hypnovel and Hypnorm [2]. Fluorinated inhalation anesthesia agents like isoflurane are very useful in MRS animal studies since they allow long experimental acquisitions (hours) while most intravenous anesthetics last about 30 minutes/dose. Yet there is concern that F spectra associated with fluorinated anesthesia (inhaled or injected) and their metabolites may interfere with the spectra from capecitabine and its metabolites. Therefore, we evaluated the effect of two common anesthetic agents, isoflurane and ketamine, on capecitabine liver metabolism in C57BL/6J mice using F MRS to determine interference between anesthetic and therapeutic agent.

Novel non-invasive probes for measuring tumor-hypoxia by 19F-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (19F-MRS). Studies in the SCCVII/C3H murine model.

BACKGROUND 19F-labeled 2-nitroimidazoles bound to hypoxic cells in tumors are known to be useful probes for measuring hypoxia since they can allow for their non-invasive detection by 19F nuclear magnetic resonance, provided that they do not lose 19F during their hypoxia-mediated metabolism. Two such compounds, N-(m-trifluoromethylbenzyl)-3-(2-nitro-1-imidazolyl)-propylamine hydrochloride (mTFN-...

Effect of Fluorination Treatment on Cotton Wettability, Dyeability and Mechanical Properties and Characterization of Surface Changes by XPS

Cotton fabric was treated with fluorine gas in a nitrogen atmosphere. The effect of fluorination treatments on wettability, whiteness index, dyeability and mechanical properties of cotton fabrics were assessed. Kawabata analysis shows that fluorination treatment increases shear stiffness G, shear hysteresis 2HG5, bending stiffness B and overall fabric stiffness Koshi on cotton fabric. Fluorinat...

A bisphosphonate for 19F-magnetic resonance imaging

19F-magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a promising technique that may allow us to measure the concentration of exogenous fluorinated imaging probes quantitatively in vivo. Here, we describe the synthesis and characterisation of a novel geminal bisphosphonate (19F-BP) that contains chemically-equivalent fluorine atoms that show a single and narrow 19F resonance and a bisphosphonate group that m...

In vivo measurements of intratumoral metabolism, modulation, and pharmacokinetics of 5-fluorouracil, using 19F nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

In vivo 19F nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy was used to monitor and measure 5-fluorouracil and some of its cytotoxic anabolites directly in rats bearing the Walker 256 adenocarcinoma by using a 4.7-T horizontal bore magnet. A two-compartment subsystem model was used to estimate intratumoral transfer parameters. The apparent rate of formation of the nucleosides/tides in the tumor, K21, c...

A 19F NMR study of 2-deoxy-2-fluoro-D-galactose in mice.

The metabolic pathway of 2-deoxy-2-fluoro-D-galactose (FDGal) in mice was studied by 19F NMR. Efficient accumulation of FDGal in liver was demonstrated by NMR, which is consistent with the results of Ishiwata et al. using radioactive 18FDGal. The new discovery is that this fluorinated hexose was converted to 2-deoxy-2-fluoro-D-glucose (FDG) through UDP-FDGal and UDP-FDG apparently by the action...
